Zomer, Summer 2018

Het was dit jaar wel een hele lange en bijzonder warme zomer. Soms heerlijk gewandeld en gefietst op de Veluwe en soms ook op apegapen gelegen bij 38 graden. Nadat we een airco gekocht hadden was het heerlijk binnen om te borduren.

It was a very long and a exstreme warm summer this year. We walked and cycled through the Veluwe but sometimes it was too hot to be outside with 38 degree Celcius. After we had bought an air conditioning it was lovely inside to embroider and relax.

Maar eerst zijn we op vakantie geweest naar ons favoriete Engeland.
In de jaren 90 hadden we de zuid kust bezocht en we wilden opnieuw naar de SevenSisters. De prachtige rijen met witte krijtrotsen tussen Eastborne en Seaford.

But first we went on holiday to our favorite England.
In the 90s we had visited the south coast and we wanted to go to the SevenSisters again. The beautiful rows of white chalk cliffs between Eastborne and Seaford.

We verbleven  in de buurt van "the Witterings"  nu bekend van Penelope Keith's Coastal Villages bij ons uitgezonden bij tv MAX als Verborgen kustdorpen.

We stayed near "the Witterings" now known from Penelope Keith's Coastal Villages.

En bezochten het Jane Austen museum in Chawton, Hampshire en de mooie omgeving van The South Downs.. Dat stond al heel lang op mijn verlanglijstje!

And visited the Jane Austen museum in Chawton, Hampshire and the beautiful surroundings of the South Downs.That was on my wish list for a long time!

Dit waren de hoogtepunten van ons bezoek aan zuid Engeland, we hebben genoten van het mooie landschap van de South Downs en historische haven van Portmouth 

These were the highlights of our visit to southern England, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the South Downs and Portmouth's historic harbor.

Weer thuis zag de tuin en het uitzicht er een beetje verdord uit!

Back home, the garden and the view looked a bit dry!

Wat een verschil met de bloeiende rododendrons uit mijn vorige blog post! Zelfs Jan had het moeilijk met z'n bontjasje aan!

Voorjaar, Spring

De afgelopen tijd leek het wel zomer en de natuur voelde dat ook! De rododendrons in de tuin bloeien volop en het is een schitterend gezicht.

It seemed summer instead of spring in the Netherlands and nature felt that too! The rhododendrons in the garden are in full bloom and we have a beautiful vieuw

Met het uitzicht op de groene akker waar gerst in de wind staat te wuiven.

With the view of the green field where barley is blowing in the wind.

Ofschoon we bleekroze rodo's gekocht hebben kleuren ze altijd paars op de zandgrond.

Although we have bought pale pink rodos, they always turn purple on the sandy soil.

Bleekroze worden ze pas aan het einde van de bloeitijd.

Voor de bijen is het Luilekkerland, het is een gezoem van jewelste!

For the bees it is Luilekkerland/ Food festival, it's a buzz!

Ook de reeen hebben het naar hun zin.

The roe are also enjoying themselves.

Sinds we op de Veluwe zijn gaan wonen genieten we volop van de mooie omgeving en wandelen en fietsen er veel.

Since we started living in the Veluwe, we enjoy the beautiful surroundings and walk and cycle a lot.

Wandelen naar de Heidebloemplas.

Voor de Mandarijn eenden is het samen met de karpers goed toeven in de plas.

For the Mandarin ducks it is good to stay in the lake together with the carp.

Wandelen naar boerderij/uitspanning de Mossel in de bossen van de Noord Ginkel met bezoek van een zwijn onderweg.

Op de Ginkelse Heide wordt veel geoefend door het leger.

At the Ginkelse Heide/ Ginkel Heath there is a exersice by the army.

Er komt een vonkje vrij en voor je het weet heb je het begin van een heidebrand!

A spark is released and before you know there is the beginning of a heathburn!

Door de harde wind verspreid het vuur zich razendsnel.

Because of the strong wind the fire is spreading rapidly.

De brandweer met bluswater wagens.

The fire brigade with fire fighting water cars.

 Hoge vlammen door de wind.

High flames by the wind.

 Gelukkig krijgt de brandweer het vuur onder controle.

Fortunately the fire department gets the fire under control.

En als we thuiskomen heet Jan ons weer welkom!

And when we come home, Jan welcomes us again!

Wij vermaken ons er prima! ;-)

Koningsdag 2018

Dit jaar komt op Koningsdag de Koninklijke familie naar Groningen.

Een borduur patroon is inmiddels een traditie geworden! :-))

This year the Royal family will come to Groningen on King's Day.

A embroidery pattern has now become a tradition! :-))

De Martini toren is al vanaf ver te zien en mag natuurlijk niet ontbreken. Net zo min als de Hollandse vlag en oranje wimpel en de wegvliegende vogels uit de klokkentoren.

The Martini tower can be seen from far away and cannot be missed. Just as the Dutch flag and streamer of the Royal family and the flying birds from the bell tower.

#Mini SAL 2018 update

Zo leuk dat er veel deelnemers zijn aan de #minisal2018!
Op Instagram verschijnen de mooiste temperatuur/kleurcombinaties van over de hele wereld!
Ook op Facebook en ik heb daar een groep gemaakt ook onder de naam  #minisal2018 voor iedereen die daar de minisal foto's wil plaatsen.

So nice that there are a lot of participants at the # minisal2018!
The nicest temperature / color combinations from all over the world appear on Instagram!
Also on Facebook and I have made a group there also under the name # minisal2018 for anyone who wants to post the minisal photos.

De maand januari is klaar in 'koude' kleuren blauw en groen.

The month of January is finished in 'cold' colors blue and green.

Workshop Kussen hoes / Pillow cover

Afgelopen jaar heb ik meegedaan aan de SAL van Dear Rine. Een facebook groep met iedere week een cirkel borduren. Het patroon is Hier te koop. Nu heb ik er een mooi kussen van gemaakt.

Last year I participated in the SAL of Dear Rine. A facebook group with a circle embroidery every week. The pattern is Here for sale. Now I have made a beautiful pillow of it.

Ik heb een gemakkelijke methode gekozen om een kussen hoes te maken die ik met jullie wil delen.

Meet het borduurwerk op.

Neem anderhalf keer de lengte ven een bijpassende stof voor de achterkant. Bijvoorbeeld als het kussen 40 cm lang is neem dan 40 cm  + 20 cm = 60 cm stof.

I have chosen an easy method to make the pillow cover that I want to share with you.

Measure the embroidery.

Take one and a half times the length of a matching fabric for the back. For example if the pillow is 40 cm long then take 40 cm + 20 cm = 60 cm fabric.

Maak een zoom aan beide uiteinden van de stof.

Knip daarna de stof  doormidden in de breedte.

Make a hem on both ends of the fabric.
Then cut the fabric in half widthwise.

Leg het borduurwerk neer met de goede kant naar boven.
Leg een deel van de stof van met de goede kant naar beneden op het borduurwerk. Vanaf de bovenkant en zorg dat de zoom op het borduurwerk komt te liggen, zie foto beneden.

Put the embroidery down with the right side up.

Put down one part of the fabric with the right side down on the embroidery. From the top and make sure the hem comes on the embrodery, see photo below.

Plaats het tweede deel van de stof met goede kant naar beneden erboven op, begin aan de onderkant en zorg dat de zoom over het midden ligt, zie foto beneden.

Place the second part of the fabric with the right side down above it, start at the bottom and make sure the hem is over the center,see photo below .

Zo zien de stoflagen eruit. Speld het werk rondom vast. Draai het om zodat het borduurwerk boven komt te liggen en steek de spelden er opnieuw in.

This is how the fabric layers look like. Pin the work around. Turn it over so that the embroidery is on top and insert the pins again.

Naai rondom de lagen aan elkaar met een stiksteek en een extra steekje in de hoeken en waar de achterkant stof elkaar overlapt.

Sew around the layers together with a backstitch and an extra stitch in the corners and where the back fabric overlaps.

Knip de randen met een kartelschaar tot ongeveer 2 cm van de rand af, in de hoeken schuin, zie foto.
Cut the edges with a  pinking shears to about 2 cm from the edge, slanted in the corners, see picture.

Keer het kussen voorzichtig, deuk alle hoeken netjes uit en schuif er voorzichtig een binnenkussen in.

Turn the cushion carefully, dent out  all corners neatly and carefully insert an inner cushion.

Werk het kussen eventueel met een koord rondom af voor een mooi resultaat. Kijk Hier hoe je dit kunt leren.
Finish the cushion with a cord around for a nice result. Click  Here how you can learn this.

De laatste 2 cirkels met het jaartal en kerstsfeer. Het was een heel leuk project om te doen. Dit jaar is er een nieuwe SAL gestart, ga naar Facebook en meld je aan bij de groep; Dear Rine Borduren.

The last 2 circles of the year and with a Christmas theme. It was a very nice project to do. This year a new SAL started, go to Facebook and register with the group; Dear Rine Embroidery.
