Workshop Kussen hoes / Pillow cover

Afgelopen jaar heb ik meegedaan aan de SAL van Dear Rine. Een facebook groep met iedere week een cirkel borduren. Het patroon is Hier te koop. Nu heb ik er een mooi kussen van gemaakt.

Last year I participated in the SAL of Dear Rine. A facebook group with a circle embroidery every week. The pattern is Here for sale. Now I have made a beautiful pillow of it.

Ik heb een gemakkelijke methode gekozen om een kussen hoes te maken die ik met jullie wil delen.

Meet het borduurwerk op.

Neem anderhalf keer de lengte ven een bijpassende stof voor de achterkant. Bijvoorbeeld als het kussen 40 cm lang is neem dan 40 cm  + 20 cm = 60 cm stof.

I have chosen an easy method to make the pillow cover that I want to share with you.

Measure the embroidery.

Take one and a half times the length of a matching fabric for the back. For example if the pillow is 40 cm long then take 40 cm + 20 cm = 60 cm fabric.

Maak een zoom aan beide uiteinden van de stof.

Knip daarna de stof  doormidden in de breedte.

Make a hem on both ends of the fabric.
Then cut the fabric in half widthwise.

Leg het borduurwerk neer met de goede kant naar boven.
Leg een deel van de stof van met de goede kant naar beneden op het borduurwerk. Vanaf de bovenkant en zorg dat de zoom op het borduurwerk komt te liggen, zie foto beneden.

Put the embroidery down with the right side up.

Put down one part of the fabric with the right side down on the embroidery. From the top and make sure the hem comes on the embrodery, see photo below.

Plaats het tweede deel van de stof met goede kant naar beneden erboven op, begin aan de onderkant en zorg dat de zoom over het midden ligt, zie foto beneden.

Place the second part of the fabric with the right side down above it, start at the bottom and make sure the hem is over the center,see photo below .

Zo zien de stoflagen eruit. Speld het werk rondom vast. Draai het om zodat het borduurwerk boven komt te liggen en steek de spelden er opnieuw in.

This is how the fabric layers look like. Pin the work around. Turn it over so that the embroidery is on top and insert the pins again.

Naai rondom de lagen aan elkaar met een stiksteek en een extra steekje in de hoeken en waar de achterkant stof elkaar overlapt.

Sew around the layers together with a backstitch and an extra stitch in the corners and where the back fabric overlaps.

Knip de randen met een kartelschaar tot ongeveer 2 cm van de rand af, in de hoeken schuin, zie foto.
Cut the edges with a  pinking shears to about 2 cm from the edge, slanted in the corners, see picture.

Keer het kussen voorzichtig, deuk alle hoeken netjes uit en schuif er voorzichtig een binnenkussen in.

Turn the cushion carefully, dent out  all corners neatly and carefully insert an inner cushion.

Werk het kussen eventueel met een koord rondom af voor een mooi resultaat. Kijk Hier hoe je dit kunt leren.

De laatste 2 cirkels met het jaartal en kerstsfeer. Het was een heel leuk project om te doen. Dit jaar is er een nieuwe SAL gestart, ga naar Facebook en meld je aan bij de groep; Dear Rine Borduren.

Vakantie / Vacation 2017

Tijdens onze vakantie in Denemarken vond ik op het strand mooie witte schelpen. Te leuk om ze te laten liggen en om er een vakantie herinnering van te maken.

During our holiday in Denmark I found beautiful white shells on the beach. Too nice to let them down and to make a holiday memory.

Een schelp als speldenkussen met de Deense vlag en natuurlijk de kleine zeemeermin!

WORKSHOP / TUTORIAL 

Zoek schelpen op het strand of vraag aan familie en vrienden of ze ze mee willen nemen van vakantie. De maat is niet belangrijk want je kunt ook een klein patroontje erop borduren.

Find shells on the beach or ask family and friends if they want to take them from vacation. The size is not important because you can also embroider a small pattern on it.

Neem een restje borduurstof en teken op de verkeerde kant de schelp erop.

Take a leftover of embroidery fabric and draw the shell on the wrong side.

Borduur het patroon op de goede kant binnen de omtrek van de schelp.

Embroider the pattern on the right side within the perimeter of the shell.

Naai met een rijgssteek ongeveer 1cm rondom het patroon en laat uiteinden van de draad lang.

Sew 1 cm around the pattern with a running stitch and leave ends of the thread long.

Keer het geborduurde patroon om.Vul met fiberfil of ander vulmateriaal de schelp en leg het daarna omgekeerd op de achterkant van het geborduurde patroon.

Turn the embroidered pattern to the back. Fill the shell with fiber fil or other filler material and reverse it on the back of the embroidered pattern.

Trek de draden voorzichtig aan en zorg dat de stof om de vulling komt te liggen en knoop de draden aan elkaar. Niet afknippen!

Carefully tighten the threads and make sure that the fabric is around the fiberfil and tie the threads together. Do not cut them!

Steek een paar keer heen en weer zodat de stof de vorm van de schelp krijgt.

Stitch a few times back and forth so that the fabric gets the shape of the shell.

Lijm de schelp in met alles lijm, en druk het kussentje erin. Het is niet erg als het niet helemaal past.

Glue the shell with all glue, and push the pillow into it. It does not matter if it does not fit completely.

Neem een bijpassend koordje, lijm de rand in met een coctail of sateprikker en leg het koordje er tegenaan. Steek de uiteinden aan de bovenkant tussen de schelp en het kussentje.

Take a matching cord, glue the edge with a coctail or sate pin and attach the cord to it. Place the ends at the top between the shell and the pad.

Steek er mooie speld met bijpassend bedeltje in en klaar is je vakantie speldenkussen.

Insert a nice pin with matching charm and ready is your holiday pillow.

Natuurlijk kun je ook de vlag van je land erop borduren.

Zomer / Summer 2016 Freebie and Tutorial

Na het Valentijns bloempotje met harten en het Paas bloempotje vol met eieren en haasjes is het nu tijd voor een Zomers bloempotje met vlinders en bloemen. De hortensia's uit de tuin zitten vol met grote bloemen en vaak zitten er vlinders op.
Met een foto uitleg om een koordje rondom het kussentje te maken. Het maakt een kussentje helemaal af!

After the Valentine flower pot with hearts and the Easter flower pot full of eggs and bunnies, it is now time of a Summer flower pot with butterflies and flowers. The hydrangeas in the garden are full of large flowers and butterflies often sit on the flowers.
With a picture explanation to make a cord around the cushion. It makes a beautiful finish!

Om een kussentje te maken is Hier een uitleg, ook om het op een andere manier te doen als je geen vierkant kussentje wilt maken.

To make a cushion is Here an explanation, to do it in a different way if you don't want to make a square cushion.

Als je het kussentje gemaakt hebt neem je bijpassend koord, naaigaren in de kleur van het koord en een naald met een scherpe punt. Het koord  moet minimaal anderhalf keer zo groot zijn als de omtrek van het kussen. Voor dit kussentje heb ik rollade touw gebruikt. Het is overal te koop neem alleen niet te dun touw. Gewone sier koorden zijn ook heel geschikt.

If you have made the cushion, take a matching cord, sewing thread and a needle with a sharp point. The cord must be at least one and a half times as large as the perimeter of the cushion. For this cushion I used kitchen rope for rolled meat. It is on sale everywhere in kitchenware stores and on the internet. Don't use too thin cord. Ordinary ornamental cords are also very suitable.

!! Het is een precisie klusje, neem je tijd ervoor want in het begin lijkt het moeilijk!

 Maar het resultaat is het echt waard.                         

!! It is a precision job, take your time to make because it seems difficult in the beginning!

But the result is really beautiful.

Begin in het midden bovenaan, hecht aan met een draad bijpassend naaigaren,  in de naad van het kussentje en steek de naald midden in het koord omhoog.

Beginning in the middle at the top, attach a matching sewing thread into the seam of the pad and insert the needle in the middle of the cord up.

Steek 1 of 2 mm verder in het koord naar beneden en trek de draad voorzichtig aan zodat je geen deuk in het koord krijgt.

Insert 1 or 2 mm further into the cord and pull the thread gently so you do not get a dent in the cord.

Neem een klein stukje van de borduurstof, dicht bij de naad, op en trek de draad er doorheen.

Take a small piece of embroidery fabric near the seam and pull the thread through it.

Daar waar je bij de stof omhoog gekomen bent steek je de naald in het koord. Let op; het koord niet strak trekken, maar neerleggen!

Where you came up with the fabric you insert the needle into the cord. Pay attention; pull the thread  not tight, but lay down!

Steek opnieuw 1 of 2 mm verder in het koord naar beneden en trek de draad weer voorzichtig aan. Ga op deze manier tot aan de hoek en neem in de hoek een steekje extra op zodat er geen gaatjes ontstaan. Het koord neerleggen in de hoek anders gaat het strak trekken.

Insert again 1 or 2 mm further into the cord and pull the thread gently again. Go this way to the corner and take a stitch in the corner extra so that no holes occur. The cord must lay down in the corner or it will pull it tight.

De hoek mag niet strak trekken.  

The corner should not pull tight.

Ga helemaal rond en leg het koord voor het begin koord. Steek nog eenmaal door het koord heen. Draai het kussentje om en hecht in de naad af. Maak er een strikje in en knip het overtollige koord af.

Go all the way around and place the cord for the start cord. Insert once the cord through. Turn the cushion over and tie-off in the seam. Make a bow and cut off the excess cord.
