Herfst Vakantie, Autumn Vacation

Het is Herfst Vakantie voor de kinderen. Tijd om te genieten van de mooie natuur met z'n paddestoelen, vallende bladeren en zoeken naar beukennootjes en eikeltjes.

Binnen is er misschien tijd om samen je eigen paddestoellen of eikeltjes te borduren en er  leuke tashangers van te maken!

It's Fall Break for the kids in the Netherlands. Time to enjoy  the beautiful nature with its mushrooms, falling leaves and search for beechnuts and acorns.
Inside there might be time to stitch together your own mushrooms or acorns and make cute bag hangers out of it!

Bevestig het driekantje aan een sleutelhanger en hang er leuke lintjes en kraaltjes aan.

Vouw de randen naar de achterkant en plak het op een dubbel stukje vilt in de vorm van een label.

Bevestig een koordje aan de bovenkant en hang het aan de schooltas.

Fold the edges to the back and glue it on a double piece of felt in the form of a label.
Attach a small cord to the top and hang it on the schoolbag.

Rode Schoollap 1923 / Red School Sampler 1923

De scholen zijn weer begonnen en precies 90 jaar geleden in 1923 maakte mijn moeder, Elisabeth Strates, op 7 jarige leeftijd haar Rode school lapje. Ze zat op de St. Mariaschool in Naarden en werd Betsie, Bep, Blauwoog of Piet (door haar neven ) genoemd.
Als herinnering aan haar heb ik een klein lapje ontworpen met de randjes uit haar rode school lapje.

The schools are started after the summer vacation in the Netherlands and exactly 90 years ago in 1923, my mother Elisabeth Strates made her first crossstitch sampler at the age of 7 years. In the Netherlands we call it the Red School Sampler.
Her school was the  St.Maria School in Naarden and she was named Betsie, Bep, Blue Eye or Piet (by her cousins​​) .
In memory of her I designed a small Sampler with the cross-stitch borders from her sampler.

Er staat een uitroepteken in het patroon vanwege een kleine fout, ook in mijn moeders schoollap kwamen deze foutjes voor ;-))
There is an exclamation point in the pattern because a small error, my mother make this small errors in her sampler ;-))

Especially for children to embroider!

For children it is fun to make their own cross stitch sampler, along with your mother, grandmother, aunt or babysitter. This is especially for girls ...... in pink of course :-))  Embroider your own name and age and use your favorite colours!

Voor kinderen is het gemakkelijk om een in kleur verlopend borduurgaren te gebruiken. In het voorbeeld is DMC Color Variations 4210 gebruikt.

For children it is easy to use variagated color embroidery thread. In the sampler I used  DMC Color Variations 4210.
